Description/Inspiration:
Project GOAT (Global Offensive Against Trafficking) utilized specially designed goat sculptures to raise money and awareness to combat human trafficking. This goat was originally intended to be orange with Blackfeet pictograms depicting the remains of every child recovered from school properties to date. After a conversation with a close friend of the artist, the concept changed from a memorial to a victory statement-a winter count for not just the victims but the survivors. The pictograms in the blue area of the goat represent the survivors of the residential school era. These are the elders who kept the language and culture alive when governments and the church worked so hard to eradicate them. The pictograms in red, below the earth line represent those who did not come home. One flank of the goat depicts the members of the Dream Catcher Foundation Council. The Council are the quintessential example of colonization's failure to "kill the Indian and save the man." These are pro athletes, supermodels, actors, musicians, artists, and influencers. You can't help but see them. Undeniable proof that Indigenous people are still here and gaining momentum every day. The other flank tells the story of Native America through the artist's family. Panning down the side, you can see how within a generation of being removed from the reservation tradition gave way to the fashion of the time. The artist shows his grandmother Agnes Kellerher and Grandfather Jimmy Big Spring as they would have appeared in the 1930s. His grandmother Helen and uncle "Smokey" in the 1950s, and his mother in the 1960's. His uncle William "Jimmy" Kellerher, a Vietnam veteran, represents the native veterans. In 1978, Natives were again allowed to practice their culture openly. This can be observed in traditional attire appearing again with the artists extended family. His cousin Deborah Red Shirt, and adopted brother and sister, Jesse DesRosier and Tillie Torpey. Blackfoot Artist Terrance Guardipee Last Gun in his elk tooth necklace helped to inspire and teach Mr. Marks through the years. The story could not be complete without the support of the artists wife, who stands next to the Skyway bridge representing Florida, and the artists heart. To the right of the skyway is Chief Mountain and a Pikuni camp, representing Blackfeet Country and the spirit of the artist. Between these two is a bull bison-the artist himself walking in two worlds. Displayed on the goat are the north star and big dipper, along with the red hand representing Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-spirit People. Even the eyes are slightly different, with a nod to Napi. The goat is a representation of the perseverance of Native America. It symbolizes colonial failure to erase Indigenous peoples. In every way this goat says to the world: "We are still here."

Description/Inspiration:

As a teenager, I hitchhiked across Canada alone. But for the grace of Creator, I could very well have been one of the missing or murdered. The FORGET US NOT Collection was inspired by the on-going tragedy of Missing and Murdered Women and how I escaped being counted amongst them. The poem was written first and inspired me to continue with the faceless dolls. The symbolism of the dolls is, though they are from three (3) different nations, they are holding hands representing sisters, who, despite their differences in customs, traditions, and geographical locations, stand together--united. Each 'sister' wears a forget-me-not flower either on her moccasins, belt, or necklace. The hands across their mouths symbolize no longer having a voice and the desperate need for us to be their voice-for us to forget them not-for all indigenous nations to stand together as one family to protect our SISTERS. The beadwork for the forget-me-not flowers was done entirely in my Signature modified Square stitch and is guaranteed from ever falling apart through normal wear and tear. Each bead, added one at a time, is individually sewn to each of the surrounding beads using only 100% silk thread. Using this stitch, each bead ends up with between 6 and 9 strands of thread through it. Durable and strong!

Artist Bio/Statement:

I've worked with such mediums as pencil, pen, charcoal, pastels and paints. Born for the Odawa Nation and originating from an ancestral home renowned world-wide for its beautiful beadwork and artistry, mid-way through life and working under my Odawa name of Waawaaskonenhens (Little Flower), I chose to put down my pencils and brushes to pick up a beading needle. Beading is my life's passion and picking up that needle is like opening the door into my own little world. Working in the strongest stitch possible and creating pieces that fuel the imagination bonds together intense pride in art and heritage. By modifying the strongest of all stitches, the traditional Square Stitch, to double its strength, using only 100% silk thread and natural beeswax, the result is a piece of work that will last for many generations. It is true that my first love and specialty is beading. The freedom to lay down the beading needle and pick up a file for smoothing and sizing bone and horn, or a glovers needle for sewing hide. The freedom to bring ancestral work into the future by way of contemporary designs while maintaining the quality of the traditional. With the exception of the synthetic sinew used for stringing or sewing, the traditionalist in me insists on using all natural materials while the creative individualist side of me feels the need to expand on the traditional ? the need to step outside the box ? the need to be "different". I hope I have succeeded! It is my prayer that the resulting works signify honor and respect to the ancestors in every piece.

This sculpture, titled, "Would You Drink This?" is dedicated to our water protectors and land defenders across Turtle Island and Hawai'i nei. A huge thank you to Giiwedin from the Ojibwe Leech Lake Nation and all the water protectors who fought the Line 3 Pipeline for inspiring me to create this vessel. To show my appreciation of all water protectors, I will be donating all of the profits to the legal defense funds for water protectors across Turtle island and Hawaii and organizations working to spread awareness and transparency of the companies that fund oil drilling projects Continue to educate yourself and spread awareness of Native issues and donate wherever you can to the water protector's legal defense and organizations spreading awareness and fighting future projects that harm Mother Earth.

Artist Bio/Statement:

Rain Scott (B. 1998) is half Navajo and half Acoma. Growing up, he would watch his father, Navajo silversmith Raynard Scott, make countless jewelry pieces out of silver, turquoise, and other precious gemstones. His upbringing sparked a passion for art, taking a particular interest in painting and still life drawing. In 2011, he developed a new interest in Japanese origami art and traditional Acoma Pueblo ceramics. For the next couple years, he tried and failed to find a teacher to teach him the traditional art form of Acoma pottery. Instead of giving up on his aspirations, he called upon his talent for origami art and knowledge of traditional Acoma pottery designs and created a completely new style of Native American art. From 2013 to 2018, Rain experimented with his newfound artform. He began sculpting simple peacock and swan forms, ultimately winning a youth award in the 2014 Heard Museum student art show. In 2018, he sculpted his first contemporary origami vessel in the shape of a white corrugated Acoma pot with a rounded shoulder and a short neck and finished with a simple black rim. Thus, his artform was born. Since 2018, Rain Scott has combined the traditional Acoma Pueblo pottery designs with individually cut and folded origami modules into an artform that he calls, "contemporary Indigenous origami." The thick, sturdy walls and corrugated texture of his origami pottery makes every piece pleasing to the eye and gratifying to touch. With every art piece he makes, he pushes the boundaries further, incorporating new designs, shapes, colors, and components including parrot feathers, turquoise, and natural sinew. Rain Scott's creations have been awarded many awards at juried art shows in the Southwest including the 2020 Alan Houser Innovation Award, and most recently, took Best in Class for Open Standards at the 2022 Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair and Market.

Michael Toya is of Jemez Pueblo descent and at a young age, it was certain that he was to become an artist! Being exposed to traditional artwork , through familial ties, prompted Michael to stay focused in pursuing his dream in becoming an artist.

Michael is a self taught artist creating works in various mediums. Michael infuses his cultural interpreted designs of spiritual symbolism into every single piece. Michael has also dabbled into creating pop-culture art highlighting some of his favorite iconic figures with Indigenous flair. With a pleasant sight, Michael's works also offers motivational strength and purpose giving the viewer energy. -One customer recently said "the spirit of who Michael is and what he expresses, is evident in his art!"

Michael was awarded second place, in best of painting, at the annual Autry Indian Market in Los Angeles, CA and received honorable mention at the SWAIA Indian Market the previous year. Description/Inspiration:

I created a Native American wedding vase with carved surface illustrating a water bird in front vase and Shiprock in the back with an arrowhead. These symbols and imagery have spiritual and symbolic meaning to the Diné people. The water bird is a spiritual medicine animal to the Diné people, Shiprock is where I was born and a landmark representing where I am from. The arrowhead representing strength and used as a spiritual medicine instrument. The vase is a positive object to bring the owner joy, love, strength, and prosperity.

Artist Bio/Statement:

My name is Matthew Bahe I am Diné (Navajo) artist, and I resign in Farmington New Mexico. I was born and raised on the Navajo Nation Reservation in New Mexico. I am a potter/craftsman that obtained my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Jacksonville University in Florida and my Associates in Liberal Arts from San Juan College in Farmington. I work at San Juan College as a part time employee where I teach and work on studio maintenance. I have also been given the opportunity to work with and assist alongside nationwide potters in my experience in Sierra Nevada College as a lab technician during the summers. I create one of kind ceramic pots that are decorative and or functional. Each piece is uniquely crafted and design with an inspiration in mind, along with use of a combination of imagery, colors, shapes, and size to personalize each piece.

This dreamcatcher is one of the last willow hoops of the 2022 season as all my willow hoops are harvested and twisted into shape by me and the season is almost over now so now more harvesting till next year. For this dreamcatcher I used flower agate for peace and harmony, fire crackle agate for protection and its yellow color symbolizes the sun and how it rises each day.

I am a 37 year old mother of a 7 year old son. I am Woodlands Cree/Metis. I am the Daughter of a 60's scoop baby, my uncle never made it home. I started weaving dreamcatchers when i was only 7 years old and then unfortunately lost my path. 4 years ago i felt the pull to start weaving again and i haven't looked back. I am happiest when i am weaving. Helping others to heal, heals me.

The black rose mirror was made in 2021 with genuine black lace deerskin leather and also has attached to web a hexagonal 5" mirror. It also has a grey /black glass heart on the bottom center hanger with black glass beads and spacers. We used a metal 10" ring with a single web design.

There are two 6' metal rings for structure a 5" single web and 3" single web placed with a semi made tipi in the center of the webs with lights and CZ for sparkle effects.

The 12 point single web is made by webbing it so the base of web touches each of the 12 points of the ring to create one single web in a unique design. We love creating intricate webs and stepping outside the box or normalcy to create something new and different.

My name is Eva Oldman and I am an Indigenous Graphic Designer. I am from Harbor Springs, Michigan. I am a tribal citizen of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians and also Northern Arapaho. I have a degree in Graphic Design and Web Design. I have been graphic designing for over 15 years.

The contemporary art I create is influenced by the fact that there was a period in time where my people were not allowed to be who they were as Native Americans. Through that dark history of my people I design with a purpose to empower my people and to tell the story of their resilience. My contemporary art tells the world that we are Indigenous, we are strong, we are resilient, and we are still here. I would like to take this time to say Miigwech / Ahou to my ancestors who stuggled so that I can be here today.

Basket comes complete with the 4 sacred medicines of Sage, Cedar, Sweetgrass and Tobacco (Sema) to bring cleansing,
protection, kindness and gratitude. The bark (Wiigwaasabak) that was used was respectfully stripped from a Birch Tree on Saugeen First Nation and shaped with love. A felt heart berry (Ode'imin) is attached to remind the bidder of the importance of balancing the mind, body, spirit and emotions with Mother Nature's gifts that are gathered throughout life and put in a bundle to carry and access when needed.

The Creator's Shelf is a partnership effort of Issac Two White Feather from Saugeen First Nation and Settler Ally Lori Gentle Eagle from Niagara Falls. Crafting helps us to open our hearts, calm our minds, move our bodies and connect us to spirit. It began as just another healthy distraction that supported Two White Feather's efforts to manage symptoms of mental health and addictive behaviours resulting from colonial oppression and multi-generational trauma. Much like his Father, Issac has a particular interest in working with his hands and building with wood. Lori fondly remembers times in her childhood spent with her Grandmother, making dolls with dried apples or embroidering table cloths with blessings left behind by those who gathered together during holiday meals each year. From her work as a Counsellor / Advocate and Soul Worker / Circle Facilitator, she knows the healing value of creative expression. On The Creator's Shelf, you will find items infused with spirit from Indigenous and Wise Woman (Goddess) traditions. We respectfully seek a lot of our supplies from the natural world and let Mother Earth be our guide. We then come together to breathe life into the creation and to share the meaning or teachings that accompany it, either on paper or in one of our Crafting With A Conscience Workshops. Custom work will always be considered as we believe, 'one of a kind is the best find'! We love to showcase other artists who use their medium in healing ways. This Child's Robe was in design and color Orange inspired by the Indigenous Boarding School children buried across North America. The children are represented by the figures at the bottom of the robe. The tepee represents the Homelands. The two children on either side represents the children found and being returned home. The tiny orange hand prints represent the little ones who have not been found yet. The white doves on folded part at the top represent children that have been returned to their homelands where their spirits may finally find peace.
